Bloggin' in a Hurricane

Who knew the first opportunity I would have to get online and blog would be during Hurricane Gustav? Well, Kristina is experiencing her first hurricane with nonchalance. Power is still on and internet is still connecting. The house we're in survived Hurricane Katrina three years ago, but needed a new roof and porch by the time it was all said and done. We've been blessed to skirt much of the severe weather. We're roughly 90 minutes north of New Orleans, and just a few miles east of the violent outer bands of the right side of the storm. Lots of wind and rain so far and some concern about tornadoes is what we're leery of at this point. We considered heading back to Florida yesterday to avoid the possibilities of what Gustav promised to bring, but one look at the interstates in any direction out of here and we knew we wouldn't get out without getting stuck in the gridlock. Friends from Florida have been texting and calling over the past few days to gauge our needs. Wanted to let everyone know we're fine. We'll check in again later.

Glad to hear you're okay. We have another adoptive fried who lives in Lafayette. We called her yesterday and she said she was staying put as well. Our prayers are with all of you!

Yeah...good to hear from you guys. We will pray for you. My dad still lives in Louisiana, but usually is on the "left" side of the hurricanes, so I know what you mean about those violent east side winds. Take care and button down. God bless you all.

Yeah, how do you like all this rain we are getting all week? We went skating on a homeschooling field trip and it was much needed! We haven't been able to play outside so they had to get their energy out. :) Since we do not have t.v. (well, no channels is what I mean), we can't watch the news. I have been following Barbie Bassett's blog and she was wonderful with the updates for us on Gustav. She has a wonderful blog and gives great Christian advice. She is also starting to homeschool this year. www.barbiebassett.blogspot.com

For those of you not in MS, she is the chief meteorologist for WLBT 3 News out of Jackson.

I can't wait to hear how the children are doing with a new school, house, etc... Email me when you get a chance... luvinmyboys9@yahoo.com

Glad ya'll are okay. I think we are an hour from you. You are closer to New Orleans than we are. I think we are 2 1/2 away.

Okay, I just checked Barbie's blog and she has pictures up of MS. WOW! Check them out! She has also said the National Weather Service has issued over 200 tornado warnings just for central Mississippi! This was a post from yesterday. Be safe and take care!

Glad you are ok. I have sister and brother in law in Baton Rouge and they said it was a mess but not as bad as it could have been.
All the best,

Might this post be better titled, "Rock You like a Hurricane"?
