People, We're Pregnant

Mom, I hope you read past the blog title. The paperwork is officially done on our side. When Maggie gave us the final okay on our dossier today, I did a little dance. I have hesitated to claim the "paper pregnancy" position until this moment. Some people say you're "paper pregnant" when the US government approves you and issues the I-171 form. I wasn't comfortable making the announcement until now. I doubt very seriously if this will give me the latitude to eat a carton of ice cream or have unexplainable mood swings. Wait . . .I already do that.

Woo-HOOOOO!!!

Oh my, I well remember the joy and incredible relief when Jennifer at Gladney painstakingly went over the dossier for us to adopt Dmitry, page by page, then finally looked up, smiled, and said "Okay. It's good."

Happy dance! Happy dance!

This is so exciting!

Congrats Leslie! I'm betting on an October appointment and a return home before it gets too cold over there.

I know that Kristina is doing well. I saw and spoke with her three times and each time she approached me, smiled and showed off her English, which is amazingly good!

This little girl is something special and I am so happy for you and your family.

Yay!!! At last!
I forgot about the "paper pregnacy" term but even so, I have been comparing this whole process (waaay before the i-171) to a natural pregnancy. (I have experienced it three times, after all!) I feel like we are now in that long stage before the baby is born when those last weeks of waiting seem like forever! Unfortunately, that stage is longer in the paper version than in actual pregnacy! The upside is that there are no leg cramps in the middle of the night, no swollen ankles, backaches or heartburn---okay, there may be some heartburn... LOL!

Oh! And the big question is: are we now qualified to park in the "Expectant Mother Parking" spaces at the grocery stores??!!!
I wish!

Doesn't it feel good!!! Our dossier is in Ukraine being translated right now. We may end up there at the same time! Last night, I met with some other adoptive friends and we were kidding around saying 'we're expecting' I didn't realize these types of terms were really used in adoption until now:) SJC

Leslie, Congrats on passing the paperwork hurdle. I just found your blog, and I'm fascinated by your story. I saw your video (about the orphans of Ukraine) awhile back on Tami's blog and was so very touched by it, (I could see my daughter's eyes in the faces of those children), but I only now connected the dots back to you. I shared your video on my blog, and I hope you don't mind. I'm excited to read back through your archives about your trip to Ukraine.
