You can reach me on an airplane . . .

Okay, Anita Baker I am not. First off, let me say thank you for all the wonderful comments and emails I've received since yesterday. I had no idea that many people read our blog. Your comments have been a great source if encouragement for us.

So today I have been trying to settle on airfare options. Any of you out there who have your two cents to put in, let me hear you! I am leaning towards buying just one way tickets to Kiev and worrying about the return tickets when it looks like we might be coming back. I'll book those online from Ukraine. So here is what I'm looking at:

JetBlue from Orlando to JFK is $79 (if I purchase by Thursday at midnight). Aerosvit is $444 from JFK to Kiev. So our one way tickets will be $523 each.

Speak up guys, I need pros and cons.

I think you already read my pros and cons for the one-way vs RT debate (if not, check out my blog entry on 9/10/07). The price you found sounds pretty good.

Good luck!

Sounds good. We're going with round-tripers but seriously considered doing one-ways. We're just too chicken to try anything new right now. For heavens sakes, we can't even make a decision about the tickets we have on hold, let alone try anything new! :)

I think it's a good idea. We also purchased one-way JetBlue tickets to JFK at about the same price. Though we bought round-trip Aerosvit tickets, I think purchasing one-way plus penalty when changing return tickets should be very close in price. So go for it!

Also, if you buy Aerosvit tickets on and buy Jetblue tickets on, Aerosvit will give you $100 credit back:

We're doing one-ways as well with Aerosvit (at the beginning of Dec), although we couldn't do JetBlue--they don't fly to us. :) If the one-way thing doesn't work there are going to be a lot of us stuck in Ukraine together!! :) :)

Hey Leslie,

I have no idea about airfare... I'm just a simple Floridian. However, I'm thrilled for you and your family!!! Congratulations! We will be thinking of you and praying that everything goes smoothly. Kristina's a very blessed and special girl, joining an incredibly blessed and special family.
