Rock Star
Outnumbered two to one, Hannah and I have always felt the overpowering presence of boys in our house. Its enough to make the two of us wander the aisles of Target some days just to escape the testosterone. Over the years we've come to enjoy our "Mom and Me" time.
When Kristina spent the summer with us last year, Hannah had to learn to share me. She was incredibly gracious, but I could sense that she craved the one on one time we once shared. I will be leaving next weekend and bringing home her new sister. She's thrilled that Kristina is finally coming home. I've been trying to set aside some precious time for me and Hannah before I leave. Precious time . . . yes, but quiet time . . . no. Today I scored 2 tickets to the sold out Best of Both Worlds Hannah Montana concert. You should have seen her reaction! Rock on!

What a totally awesome mom!!
You rock, Leslie!!!
Wow, that's awesome! My daughter is not a Hannah Montana fan yet, but I heard on the news how the tickets to this show are usually sold out in minutes if not seconds.
(I should go to bed before our big day, but for some reason I don't feel like sleeping :)
I can't believe you got tickets!!! Good for you! I wish I could have seen her reaction! Have fun!
Lots of love,
Christine
Are you sure you don't want to Scalp those tickets and pay for a chunk of adoption...I hear those tickets go for the cost of a car on the black market ;) Have fun with your daughter as soon it will be 3 girls going out and that won't be quite as easy ;) Going to drop photos in the mail to you on Monday for you to take...hope they make it. Blessings
You ROCK mom!!! I don't know how you scored those tickets, but I am impressed! Thankfully Punky is not quite to the avid fan stage...she just kinda likes the show. Hopefully I have a few more years before I have to stand in line for concert tickets. I'm not ready to start doing THAT again!
Hey! I want to say thank you for your comment on my blog. And I very happy for you and for Kristina that she'll has a nice family, who loves her very soon. Thank you for sharing.
God love you.
A year ago, I had never heard of Hannah Montana. My how life has changed, and all for the better. Our family is very much enjoying following your journey. Sounds like you're going to have a rather chilly Christmas in Ukraine!
dang those tickets are hard to get! thats awesome! and it is so amazing Kristina will be sharing Christmas with her new family! that is so amazing!!!
Congratulations and best wishes as you bring Kristina Home.
The following are two poems I have written while waiting to bring my eight year old son Jheyson home. The journey is heartwrenching and I miss him dearly. Please pray that our ordeal is over soon.
A CHILD LIKE ME
With saddened eyes and head bent low,
It’s damaged goods most see,
With an unclear past and broken heart,
Who would want a child like me?
I watch you walk into the room,
From a distance I can see,
But dare I take a closer step?
Who would want a child like me?
And then I see you look my way,
You smile so tenderly,
But do I even dare to dream,
You would want a child like me?
And then as if I spoke out loud
You approach me cautiously,
I try so hard to just believe,
She will want a child like me.
But can I once let down my guard,
And trust that she will see,
Hiding beneath this old stained shirt,
Is a beautiful child like me?
My smile they say lights up a room,
I’ll be good as good can be,
“Oh Please Dear God, let her want,
A special child like me.”
I feel her hand reach out for mine,
And within her eyes I see,
A single, tiny, shining tear,
Could she want a child like me?
And when she holds me in her arms,
With a warmth so pure and new,
She says the words I've prayed to hear,
"The child I want is You."

See Me
Don’t look away, see me, I’m here
With shattered heart and real tears.
An orphaned boy, left here alone,
Along the darkened streets to roam.
Don’t turn away, your eyes from mine,
I am a precious child of nine.
With outstretched arms, I need so much,
A tender word, a human touch.
Don’t pity me for I can feel,
The shame and sadness, all too real.
Instead look deep and you will find,
A kindred soul of only nine.
Don’t walk away, see me, I’m here,
A frightened child with looming fears,
With hopes and dreams, much like your own,\
Just yearning for a loving home.
Don’t look away see me, I’m here,
A voice now whispers in his ear.
My gentle arms will hold you tight,
And chase away your darkest nights.
Look up, See me, for I am real,
The Lord your God, himself revealed
Within this face so pure and mild,
My faithful presence with each child.
